“PORCUPINE QUILLWORK EMBROIDERY”
Before the Indians obtained seed beads from White traders, they decorated
their clothing and other articles with porcupine quill embroidery.
The quills of the porcupine were dyed, then flattened, and attached
to the article being decorated by wrapping, stitching, and plaiting.
Excellent reproductions of quillwork can be obtained with raffia.
